At Clockwork, we&#8217;ve embraced AI tools across various aspects of our work, from writing user stories and conducting research to synthesizing interview findings and collaborating with our engineering teams. However, one of our most impactful and perhaps surprising applications of AI has been ensuring our communications are clear and accessible to diverse audiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-making-language-more-accessible\">Making language more accessible<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Recently, when preparing pre-work instructions for a client team, we recently leveraged Claude.AI to review our content specifically for English as a Second Language (ESL) audiences. The AI tool provided straightforward yet valuable suggestions to enhance clarity and comprehension.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the recommendations themselves were simple, their impact was significant. This approach allowed us to be more human-centered and thoughtful in our communications, demonstrating our commitment to inclusivity in practice rather than just principle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s remarkably easy to default to our natural speech patterns and familiar expressions. The English language, rich with idioms and specialized terminology, can often create unintended barriers to clear communication. What might seem perfectly clear to native speakers can be confusing or misinterpreted by others. Leveraging available AI tools helped us significantly improve the effectiveness of our communications and reframe our thinking. This thoughtful approach ensures better understanding and creates a more welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-transforming-work-through-ai-integration\">Transforming work through AI integration<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What we&#8217;ve learned through our AI journey is that transformation doesn&#8217;t always require massive technological overhauls. Sometimes, the most <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clockwork.com\/insights\/creating-inclusive-naming-conventions-in-technology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">powerful changes<\/a> come from small, thoughtful interactions with AI\u2013like using it to review content for clarity or checking if our language is truly accessible and inclusive.
